Living with a Mechanical Heart Valve: Click.Tick.Thump. Love It!

Support Group for Mechanical & Artificial Heart Valve Surgery & Using Warfarin

I get attacks of gout.  I don't want to take Allopurinol.  The gout flares are generally manageable but it has been suggested that a daily diet of cherries or blueberries will help. Apparently the active component is anthocyanin.  If I wasn't taking Warfarin I'd try this out and I'll ask for advice next time I get my INR checked though I guess they might not  have an answer.  Has anyone here looked into this?

I've not posted on here for a long time though at the time I had my valve fitted I got a lot of help and reassurance from this site.  I had my new valve in 2010 and it continues to function well and I'm generally fit and well and very active at the age of 77.   The only issue is checking out other medications for their effect on INR.
