Martina commented on Catriona Carnson's blog post Check in this afternoon!Hi folks,
just wanted to keep you up to date with my progress and to see if anybody has had similar experiences after surgery.
I had my mitral valve replaced on the 8th of May and was discharged home 8 days later - the last 2 days were spent on a 24 hour heparin infusion due to the loading dose of warfarin given being to low. I've been home just over a week now and feel things are coming together well. I do have a couple of questions that I'm not sure if anybody can advise…

Well the day has arrived, and this afternoon I'm heading into Derriford for the 'main event' tomorrow.
Hope that it all goes to plan. I'm strangely calm about it! Don't know about the rest of the family - they seem totally hyper about things!
Looking forward to geting in touch to let you all know how well it went!
Keep thinking positive,
Catriona

I'd like to think that 6 weeks post op I could have a night out? It wouldn't be a wild one - I think my days of 'avin it large' - are probably over! Hope all is going well for folks out there. Looking forward to more updates from those that are in the initial stages of recovery. I get…

Dave Millard said… Hi Catriona,
How did your Monday meeting with the surgeon go, positive I hope?
I'm looking forward to meeting up with my surgeon, I could really do with knowing when my operation is likely to happen.
Bye the way I got lucky with the dentist, 1 filling and 2 hygeine sessions.
Hope to hear your update soon.
All the best.
Dave
