Graeme said… Hey Holly
Welcome to the Mechanical Heart Valve Group! Don't feel too bad about being on coumadin - its not really a big deal - i have been on it for now nearly 8 years and i still pretty much eat and drink what ilike - but with a watchful eye! You will find a whole section on this site just devoted to coumadin (warfarin) and diet exercise etc etc.. And as for your age - your a spring chicken compared wiht a lot of older MHV recipients and also we have a lot of younger recipients on the forum as well with one a 12 year old young boy. Having a MHV is not a big deal these days and over 6 million have been implanted in people world wide in the last 20 years or so..so its a BIG club to be a member of! Anyway don't be afraid to ask questions or voice your opinion on the forum - we are all here to help you and one anther so i hope to see you posting soon!
cheers
