Gosh, I hadn't even thought about the valve being heard in a theater! I have been wondering if the mechanical valve will set off metal detectors. Do you know?

i have heard that too... someone was telling me that captivated ball valves really do make quite a racket. from my experience with my bi-leaflet titanium valve people can hear it, but they have to really concentrate to 'tune' in...

Thank you for the welcome. I know I have a lot to learn. With everyone's help--maybe it won't all have to be through trial and error. My surgeon told me that the more recent titanium valve is not as loud as the older ones. We'll see?

i was at the theatre once though when the lady i was sat next to told me i was too loud and moved to the end of the row, though... ;) her problem, not mine!
