Hello Survivors! I wanted to shortly summarize my eventual ownership of a Mechanical mitral valve. When I was 12 I got strep, then St.Vitus Dance after Rheumatic fever. Doctors gave me antibiotics and my heart remained unchecked until 1999, when I almost died in childbirth (to Wallace) from the anesthesia. My valve was un cooperative. 2003 I had another birth(to Liam) that had a para-natologist check my heart through out and forced me to have natural childbirth due to the instability.Fast…See More

and welcome to the Mechanical Heart Valve Group! Sounds like you have a lot in common with a lot of us - hard to stop doing the things you used to do - especially sports.. !
