Artificial Heart Valve Surgery & Living with Warfarin: UK Info Support Group
Today is the date of my 38 years of having a MHV. Wow ! I can remember so many things ,first time ever admitted to a hospital. I remember a shot which put me in a frozen state . Then on down the hall to surgery area- Oh how I wanted to say something -but I couldn't move or talk . I wonder if they still do this ?? I could hear everyone else Dr. etc chatting , I could see everything , large bright light over me . The evening before surgery I was out in the waiting room there was 4 of us going the next a.m. I was the talker , giving everyone hope and prayers. Wow I thought they are really scared. Thought I was tough LOL . I still think of the others who were waiting , all female except one and he did not survive. I still think of him . There is so much information now that we did not have then . The computer is great , plus there are more people with a MHV to talk with like this great site . I had to do my own discovery's even the DR.'s didn't say much. My grandfather died of the same thing -Mitral stenosis, there was no help for him at that time . It was reported his heart covered almost all his chest , largest ever seen in autoposy. My Mother also had same but had no surgery and passed from a stroke.
I just recently added a pacemaker to help the heart as I am sure it could use some help.
Remember things have changed ~~~

I believe I have the Pro F ysio cherry stone oblong pillow. I got it after taking a flying leap into a concrete walk, no breaks just muscle soreness. It was a gift-------Thanks for the information to their site!

Comment by Graeme on February 9, 2012 at 9:27 Anne, you asked about a wheat pack. In Aussie and here in the UK it is a bag simply filled with wheat that you heat up in the micro wave. They are often used for injury as they stay warm for about an hour or so after microwaving and help heal sprains, torn tissue etc. I have a medim size one (which i dont put in the oven!) but have it in bed and when on my side have it against my chest. It really cuts down on the noise of the valve especailly when you are going to sleep. ! You can get all sorts of shapes and sizes. Heres a good one in the uk!
cheers
