Living with a Mechanical Heart Valve: Click.Tick.Thump. Love It!

Support Group for Mechanical & Artificial Heart Valve Surgery & Using Warfarin

Went to Southampton General today for a final assessment and discussions as to the options available. The medical staff were great. Armed with the new found wealth of information and advices received my decision has been made, so all things being equal I should be a grateful recipient of a MHV in the near (or not so near) future. That having been said I await a date for the operation and given the back log they have at the hospital it could be as far away as August. In this aspect they were able to reassure me that they would schedule a date for as early as practicable and add me to the list for short notice in the event of any cancellations. Whilst I don't yet have a date I am feeling a bit more upbeat knowing that the only thing I have to do now is wait.
