Hello all after having my valve replaced  and a repair to the aorta im trying to get used to the noise which is comforting and annoying at the same time. Im 8 weeks in and doing well getting my strength back and over doing it im sure . Im a knife maker and hand forge all my knives and very anxious to get back on the anvil  and hammer . I did ask the doctor where the volume switch was , He looked at me and said you dont want to know -----enough said.

James.. I'm 8 years post op.. and you will EVENTUALLY sort of get used to the click tick thump machine.. :-) and even get to love it!! Think of it as your life saver..there is plenty of advice on the forum posts on the site about how to live with the new noise and sensations it produces.. especially sleeping with it. !

cheers

Hi James

Glad to hear you are progressing well but you unfortunately will have to get used to the sound of your valve. I am 4 months post op and you do get used to it and sometimes if your busy you won't even notice it. A lot is due to finding appropriatte positions which make it less audible. Welcome to the support group and hope you get the support you need.

Regards

Elaine
