I note your 'thumping chest' Yep. Its a life long legacy.. I too had an AD in 2003 and set this site and its sister site AorticDissection.co.uk up in 2009. I have a St Jude mechanical valve and all MVs are ths same. However- beleive it or not - you will graudally get used ot it.. true! It is worse in bed on your back. Try to sleep on your side and also get a wheat bag to hold against your chest when on your side. 15 years on now from my AD ad thats how I sleep! The numbness on LH side should also go as well aftr a year or so. Now, if you could pop over to the membership payment section on the site and pay for your annual membership you can see how others have fared!
All the best and welcome to MHV support group!
