Support Group for Mechanical & Artificial Heart Valve Surgery & Using Warfarin
Hi to all
I'm not sure if this is the best place for me to give a brief recent medical history of what brought me to this point, but I'll write it here and if a better place exist somebody can let me know.
I'm a 40 year working mother who over the last 5 years has been feeling like she is the worlds most unfit woman. I have had increasing symptoms of breathlessness and exhaustion, however I would have explained it all away as not getting enough exercise!
About 12 weeks…Continue
Hello to All and a Thank You for the welcome to the MHV forum from Graeme. This is my first writing . I have been all over this site ~~~reading blogs , video surgery's , ~~members list. Couldn't stop long enough to check in !
I am glad to have found this site ~~~"nice" as there was nothing ~~no computers or friends with same condition to talk with when i had a mitral valve replaced in 1974. That will be 38 years ago in Feb. 2012.
I am doing great , have no…Continue

Hi folks. I am to have an op on Friday 06 January to replace my bicusp heart valve with a mechanical one and to have part of my dilated aorta replace with some plastic tube.
The only thing I really worry about is the Warfarin I'll have to take for the rest of my life (until a suitable replacement is found). After all the stories of woe on here about Warfarin, it has not made me feel any better about it.
Anyone not had problems with it?
Happy new year to everyone on the site. Hope you have a great 2012.
