First BAD day!

Had a bit of a bad day today! (3weeks post op after mitral valve replacement and AF ablation)

After 3 weeks of great progress and feeling real positive about it all, I have today spent ALL day checking my pulse every 10 to 15 mins.

When I woke this morning all was good, however after being up for about half an hour I became aware that my heart was racing at a rate above 130.  I spoke to the cardiac rehab nurse who told me to go to GP for an ECG.  By the time I got…

Wednesday was told at about 4-5pm that my op was scheduled for 1pm the next day. 2 hours later I was told they had to cancel and that I might aswell go home. I broke up with two days of stress...

2 weeks post op. Going well - mostly!

Hi folks,

just wanted to keep you up to date with my progress and to see if anybody has had similar experiences after surgery.

I had my mitral valve replaced on the 8th of May and was discharged home 8 days later - the last 2 days were spent on a 24 hour heparin infusion due to the loading dose of warfarin given being to low.  I've been home just over a week now and feel things are coming together well.  I do have a couple of questions that I'm not sure if anybody can advise…

Hospital Visit

Went to Southampton General today for a final assessment and discussions as to the options available. The medical staff were great. Armed with the new found wealth of information and advices received my decision has been made, so all things being equal I should be a grateful recipient of a MHV in the near (or not so near) future. That having been said I await a date for the operation and given the back log they have at the hospital it could be as far away as August. In this aspect they were…

Check in this afternoon!

Well the day has arrived, and this afternoon I'm heading into Derriford for the 'main event' tomorrow.

Hope that it all goes to plan.  I'm strangely calm about it!  Don't know about the rest of the family - they seem totally hyper about things!

Looking forward to geting in touch to let you all know how well it went!

Keep thinking positive,
