Support Group for Mechanical & Artificial Heart Valve Surgery & Using Warfarin
Just wanted to let you all know I did a 48mile (~77km) charity bike ride at the week, for British Heart Foundation. Two years post Op and I did it under my own power – I’m very happy to report I feel fine. The hills were tough but the weather was lovely. I had a few pub stops along the way :)
I'm very pleased to say that yesterday I completed a 45km charity bike ride, for British Heart Foundation, around some lovely Suffolf Villages. It was a very well organised event. It’s about 14 months post Aortic Valve & ascending Aorta replacement. It was so good to complete it. Today I’m a little bit tired :)
I'm one year post Op and all is well - I'm feeling great.
I just wanted to say a BIG thank you to all on this wonderful site - you helped me through the tough times Pre & Post Op and it was very much appreciated.
Best regards always
Just wanted to wish you all a very Happy New year & thank you all again for all your support over the last year.
I continue to recover very well, now over 8 months post Op.
Hope you all have a fantastic new year.

Just wanted to share my happy news with you all. I’ve just been on a cycling holiday in Andalucia – beautiful spot in Spain but very hilly! It’s been just over 5 months since my MHV Aortic Valve & Ascending Aorta replacements. I’m 47yrs old and like cycling, I wanted to get back to cycling as soon as possible – I had an electric motor fitted to my bike and had been cycling again post ~2.5months since Op. I hired an Electric bike on holiday – a pedalic i.e. have to…Continue
Hi Graeme, I completely understand about the introduction of subscription fees. It must have taken a lot of your time over the years to 'control' this site. Thank you very much for starting it and organising it for so long. It has helped me so much over the past 10 months during the very stressful time of Pre & Post OP. It's hard to put into words how helpful this site has been for me & my family and I know it will continue to help me. I wanted to give something back to everyone on…Continue
Just wanted to share my good news - I start back at work this Monday 9wks post Aortic valve replacement. I'm very happy about this, well probably more happy that I'm well enough to consider returning to work than the act of returning to work :) It will be a phased return, mornings only Mon,Wed & Fri for a few weeks then see how I go.
I would like to thank you all for your support over the past few months - I have found this site i.e. the people on it so…Continue
Well I have my date now – next Thurs 12th April, getting nervous now but equally just want the Op over with so I can get on the road to recovery. I went to a Pre-Op morning session at Papworth last Thursday – it was very helpful & informative, blood tests, Chest X-ray and an opportunity to talk to nursing staff etc about the Operation & what to expect over the next few months. With regards to work, my surgeon suggests I might be off for 12weeks but I’m hoping for say 6…
