Exercise and reduced vital capacity

I had my aortic valve replaced in July and generally have recovered really well. In the past I have been very fit but had to reduce my exercise significantly for the last 4 months before surgery. 12 weeks after my op I started running again and going to the gym but it seems to be a very slow improvement. Does anyone know what sort of effect a heart valve replacement has on your aerobic capacity?

Hi Peter, Guess you have been through the same emotional roller coaster as me. Don't know why we worry, when the surgeon says routine, another day at the office, he means it! Had my op at Southampton Spires, everybody was brilliant and I couldn't have been in better hands. Had my first blood test today since leaving hospital, INR spot on at target 2.5. Pain killers working well, sitting back and enjoying life. Still minimal ticking, lucky or what. Hope you are fairing as well. keep in touch (can trade war stories and or tales of woe as the case may be). ;-) All the best, Dave
